We hope you will be able to join us! Most of our plants are also native to the Adirondack Park. We carry herbaceous perennials, grasses and sedges, groundcovers, ferns, wetland and aquatic plants, and a large selection of shrubs. Most of our plants work well for shoreline buffers along streams or lakes and also for rain gardens. The full list of plants we have available can be viewed here.
In addition to a great selection of plants native to New York State, we will have hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill and a raffle to win some free plants to get your own native plant garden started. You will want to be sure to check out the shop as well — where we still have some of our NY maple syrup from this winter that we collect from our maple trees the old fashioned way with buckets — and birdboxes for a variety of different birds — from chickadees to wood ducks.

These gardens include sidewalk curb cuts that change the flow of polluted stormwater rushing down a city street. Instead of heading downhill into a storm drain, stormwater gets diverted into the garden, and gets captured, filtered, and treated underneath in the soil. Planting zones are areas you can find on a growing zone map that show exactly which plants are best suited to thrive in your given area, or zone. In essence, plant hardiness zones have been used by growers for years to simply identify the plants that are most likely to survive the winter in their area. Each agricultural zone covers a degree range. Zone 1 is the coldest, with an average minimum winter temperature of to degrees F, while the minimum winter average temperature in Zone 13 is 60 to 70 degrees F. Understanding gardening zones means you can focus your time and attention not to mention money on plants with the best chance of winter survival.

Our backyard has very low spots where the water from the roofs of two adjacent houses ends up. How do I deal with this?
