Bright, well-trained, and qualified people are essential to the nursery industry, and that's what inspired Dale and Liz Deppe to create the Spring Meadow—Proven Winners Scholarship Fund inThe fund is dedicated to helping aspiring students from across the country obtain a degree in horticulture. The Spring Meadow team has been blessed by this industry and the mentors who've helped them along the way. This scholarship fund is their way of giving back and sharing the excitement for plants and the nursery industry with others. Yufei Qian is a graduate student at the University of California—Davis where she is doing everything she can to learn and pursue her passion for plants.

Bressan bressan hort. Blakeslee, Angus S. Murphy, Hans J. Bohnert, Paul M. Auxin plays critical roles in many aspects of plant growth and development. Although a number of auxin biosynthetic pathways have been identified, their overlapping nature has prevented a clear elucidation of auxin biosynthesis. Recently, Arabidopsis Arabidopsis thaliana mutants with supernormal auxin phenotypes have been reported. These mutants exhibit hyperactivation of genes belonging to the YUCCA family, encoding putative flavin monooxygenase enzymes that result in increased endogenous auxin levels.
Here, we report the discovery of fertile dominant Arabidopsis hypertallD and hypertallD yuccaD , -2D mutants that exhibit typical auxin overproduction phenotypic alterations, such as epinastic cotyledons, increased apical dominance, and curled leaves. However, unlike other auxin overproduction mutants, yucca6 plants do not display short or hairy root phenotypes and lack morphological changes under dark conditions. All anthropology graduate work at Purdue University is fully funded. I am recruiting students interested in political ecology and agriculture, especially those asking questions about how to build resilient and just agricultural systems in the 21st century. Potential students may have a range of disciplinary backgrounds including anthropology, environmental science, agricultural economics, or ecology. If you are interested in working with me, please write to me and refer to the Purdue University graduate program for specific program guidelines. If you write, please let me know what kinds of work you are interested in doing, what your career goals are, and what kinds of anthropological scholarship you are interested in reading and creating.
